Day 7

A crazy day. Lots of things happened. Don’t think can remember all and write it down as too much happened towards the end.

Woke up early for preparation again. Hot drinks can really help cure the cold. Mr. nice guy treated me to breakfast at his store.

Headed to Jeli by feet. Wanted use bus but changed my mind in the end. Getting a car to give me a ride was difficult as usual. A nice person drove me to Jeli in the end and treated me to lunch at Bukit Bunga as well as giving me some money. Couldn’t say no to the money as apparently, it’s rude to ‘tolak rezeki’ said Malays.

Missed the point to see Thailand-Malaysia border at Bukit Bunga. But, well, not really fond of it.

Walked around Jeli. Just another usual town with different lifestyle. Continued walking to Batu Melintang to challenge Gunung Reng. Was fooled that the distance between Jeli and Batu Melintang is near but it was further than expected. Nevertheless, somebody drove me there at the last few kilometres.

Thought I could add Gunung Reng to my record but it seems visiting during raining season is a bad idea. Only allowed to go in a short distance as it was too slippery to continue according to locals. It’s easy to get lost too. Shall visit again during April or August as it’s an interesting mountain that looks like a big rock in the middle of nowhere on a village up on a hill.

Walked to nearby gas station to ‘tahan kereta’ to travel to Gerik (Grik), Perak. Took long enough and finally somebody willing to.

Journey on the way to Gerik from Batu Melintang was interesting as it’s the Perak-Kelantan border.

Reached Grik at night and walked few kilometres to ‘pusat bandar’. Found a buddhist temple joint restaurant to sleep for the night. People here are crazy in a different sense. To prove it, I’m writing this at 4am, today’s (or yesterday’s) sleeping time.
